Vancouver’s own Kolo Choir brings the centuries-old tradition of Ukrainian choral music to life with stirring harmonies and breathtaking vocal precision. Their voices evoke memory, spirit, and the enduring strength of community.
A Christmas Evening Steeped in Tradition
The program features an array of treasured Ukrainian Christmas carols — including the iconic “Shchedryk,” the 1916 New Year’s carol by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych. The little swallow’s song that once echoed across Ukrainian villages would later evolve into one of the world’s most beloved holiday melodies: Carol of the Bells.
Audience members can also browse authentic Ukrainian handicrafts, enjoy carolling, and immerse themselves in a warm, nostalgic holiday atmosphere.
